Altos Labs (Altos) today announced that Joan Mannick, M.D., has joined the company as Senior Vice President, Chief Medical Officer, and Head of Product Development. In this role, Dr. Mannick will help drive Altos’ mission to reverse disease through cellular rejuvenation programming and bring transformative therapies to patients.
“Joan’s extensive clinical development experience and her passion for translating science into medicine make her an invaluable addition to Altos Labs,” said Altos CEO Hal Barron. “Her leadership will be instrumental in translating our research to deliver medical breakthroughs that will change peoples’ lives for the better.”
Dr. Mannick joins Altos from Tornado Therapeutics, where she served as Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder and led efforts to develop safer and more effective mTOR inhibitors for aging-related diseases. Earlier in her career, Dr. Mannick held positions as Medical Director at Genzyme and served on the faculties of Harvard Medical School and the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Dr. Mannick has also held leadership roles at Life Biosciences, resTORbio (which she also co-founded), and the New Indications Discovery Unit of the Novartis Institutes of Biomedical Research, where she spearheaded innovative clinical programs targeting aging biology. She holds AB and MD degrees from Harvard College and Harvard Medical School.
At Altos, Dr. Mannick will work within the Institute of Medicine (IoM) to provide medical and scientific leadership for all clinical programs. She will work closely with Dolo Diaz, PhD, who leads the IoM group focused on discovery and development sciences.
